Building the Backbone: Designing Mounts for Crush

Progress on Crush Mounts
L brackets: Raine designed custom L brackets to hold most major components of the minibar together. This consists of two types of L brackets for the backplate and smaller more robust L brackets for general mounting.

Capsule mounts: The capsule mounts to the backplate of the robot, and SLS-printed nylon guides hold the capsules a set distance apart from each other.

Thruster mounts and wings: To mount the thrusters, cuts of aluminum wings were modeled, in addition to flat sections to mount three thrusters in a position that aligns with the center of the robot

Hydrophone L brackets: Michelle modified Raine’s L bracket design to hold hydrophones. It is designed to be a friction fit with the o-ring around the hydrophone and also have 2 holes for a ziptie to make sure the hydrophone stays.

Hydrophone straight bracket: Michelle created a hydrophone mount that is flat so that it can be placed off of a horizontal bar in the middle front of the minibot.

Marker Ball dropper: Michelle redesigned a previous CAD file of a marker ball dropper for the main robot so that it can be connected to the hole attachment system of the minibot. She is currently working on adapting the marker ball dropper to use a different servo motor. Similarly, she is also working on adapting a marker dropper for the main robot to use a new servo.
